Kush & OJ Mixtape I'm going to take responsibility for getting this NFNC 'Mixtape Wednesday' thing back on radar. And we are going to start this new weekly post with 1 of my top 5 mixtapes of the YEAR, HANDS DOWN. If you are not already up on game, allow me to introduce the homie 'Wiz Khalifa' and his most thorough effort to date 'Kush & OJ'. This was released April 14 of this year and ALL of the anticipation was warranted. Wiz, from Pittsburgh, PA, has created his own lane in the rap game with the 'Taylor Gang', but you are going to be hard pressed to find anybody not wanting to ride in it. This man's flow is smooth and speaks to the lighter side of life, pretty women, high-grade weed, and world traveling, much like his fellow lover of all things green Curren$y. Wiz immediately gets you in the 'baken' mood with the second track on the mixtape, 'Mezmorized', with a laid back 'ride' beat where the chorus states 'aint sh*t changed, but the amount of horses in my motor when I switch lanes…'.

Kush & OJ Back CoverStandout tracks include the previously mentioned 'Mezmorized'; 'Spotlight', where he states, 'this beat goes perfect wit my belt'; 'Up', a love song to his favorite vice, 'everythings better when you're high'; 'Never Been'; 'Still Blazin'; 'Glass House'….if I listed them all, then the majority of this 20track monster would be noted. I got the same feeling listening to this album as I did when I first heard Drake's 'So Far Gone' two winters ago. If you call yourself a rap aficionado and are interested in being party to the 'NEXT'group of up and coming rappers, outside of the those getting major radio play, then you need to have this mixtape in your arsenal. Find this and download it and comment. GO!!! Be back at you folks next week with some more flame for your ears.

Cousins, this is a nice review. I love the imagery with the review too! Will they allow you to post a track or two? When can we expect more?

I really enjoyed reading this review. I'm getting a tired of the bafoonery that's being labeled hip hop, so it's nice to see people like Wiz getting some credit.
