V. Hicks

I have the opportunity, via this social media outlet, NufacesNC, to attempt to raise awareness about all things personal to myself and those things I believe should be, at least, considered by others. There is no greater cause worth championing EVERY time, then that which involves the betterment of children. Each generation of children should be provided all available resources to set them up for success, as they will be our successors and carry on the legacy of the values taught to and instilled within them. There is no population more deserving of assistance from any and everyone capable, than the children. When I ran across an individual responsible for engaging in activities targeting improvement of the youth's learning experience, I felt the need to put fingers to keyboard and speak to the effort and initiative one man is taking in an attempt to make things better for the children of North Carolina.

Enter Vincent L. Hicks. Relocating from Brooklyn, NY, to Louisburg, NC, approximately 4 years ago, Mr. Hicks maintains an entrepreneurial spirit in all endeavors as he continues to build his portfolio of businesses and community service. The two strongholds of what I would call his 'umbrella' organization are 'K&K Medical Billing, Inc.' and 'Veracious Investments, LLC'. These are the main resources, in combination with other charitable gifts by statewide businesses and churches, for the contributions being made to ensuring the bare minimums are met for as many students as possible in his locale. As the time rolls back around for the 2010-2011 school year, he has done his part to present school supplies, specifically book bags, to the children of Louisburg with the 3rd annual 'Back to School Supply Drive', that took place Friday, August 20, 2010. This event was held at Terrell Lane Middle School in Louisburg and was co-sponsored by the GospeI Unlimited Church of Christ's Disciples along with his colleagues Latoya Smith and Tonya Watson. Approximately one month later, September 25, 2010, the 'K&K Medical Billing 3rd Annual Family Day' will be held at the same location. This affair is more in the vein of a neighborhood day at the park, including eating, a basketball tournament, and prizes for winners of other various activities. Mr. Hicks will be working alongside Mr. Stanley Davis and the teachers at Terrell Lane Middle School to make this a successful day for Louisburg residents. Another gathering of note will be the 'Veracious Investments Annual Clothing Drive', with a date yet to be determined. This will be Mr. Hicks's first solo venture in attempt to secure clothing for those less fortunate in his community. He hopes to have this locked in for Christmas this year and with the help of Pastor Christopher Mallory of Grace & Peace Outreach Ministries in Halifax County, NC, this will ease the burden on families that otherwise may be unable to enjoy the season of giving and receiving.

When asked what personal gains he attains by putting these types of events on for the youth, Mr. Hicks stated, 'We have always strived to provide a positive atmosphere within the community. By hosting these events, it brings everyone together and creates a certain bond with the area residents. We feel that being able to give back to the community is a major contributing factor for any successful business or organization.' Kudos and applause for this man as he stands up and is counted in the constant battle for affording the youth an opportunity to be successful in their studies and solidifying their sense of belonging to a family larger than those in their homes. Please do what you can to support this and any other organization that has an interest in building up those in need.
